Aristotle and horror
Aristoteles most influential work, "Poetics" is considered to be the most important account of literary theory to have survived the ancient world. It has remained a powerful piece, serving as the foundation for Renaissance poetic theory, throughout history, even into the 20th century. Written approximately seventy five years after the last of the fifth century tragedy greats were penned, "Poetics" had a primary goal of imparting advice to contemporary poets on the art of writing tragedy. As poetics applies to its original focus, tragedy, it also applies to horror. He lists six features that poets must attend to as prime importance.
